he doesn't

I submit this with some slight hesitation cause of the story i'm about to tell.

Now, I'm agnostic, formally Christian, and I'm queer, and I was queer and I was out before and after I turned away from practicing a religion. Sounds like a paradox, don't it? How can I be christian AND queer?? Doesn't God want to smite me and send me to burn for eternity for liking girls?

Well, no, actually, he doesn't. My former church does, and a few hateful people out there do, but the big guy upstairs they claim to be representing? Nah. If he exists, and at this point I'm not sure, but if he does, I know as an irrefutable fact that he loves me. You see, your God is not human, that's why he's GOD. He doesn't think and act like a human, he is not capable of the kinds of feelings humans are. Whereas a parent might kick out their gay child here on earth, God has no concept of the idea. He scratches his head and wonders how anybody could hate their own child so much. And he's omnipotent, so he knew long before you were even born that you were gonna be gay af and yet - he still let you exist. Funny how that works, huh? If God hated queer people so much, they wouldn't exist, simple as that. He knows it's not some challenge to be overcome like sadness and mourning are. As many obstacles as he may put in your way, he wouldn't condemn you to damnation from the get-go.

At least, that's what I was taught, and yet I was still kicked out of church for being who I was - because I refused to denounce my attraction to girls when I started dating a boy, because I kissed my best friend and refused to admit it was wrong and sinful. The same people who had been telling me a few days, HOURS prior that God loved me unconditionally were now saying I was doing him wrong, that for as long as I refused to admit I was wrong, I would be hated and he would never look at me in a time of need. That is a HUMAN thing to do, a petty, hateful, HUMAN thing. God is not human and ya'll know that DAMN well. If you're trying to speak for him and saying he is hateful and spiteful, YOU'RE the one he's not going to be happy with. YOU'RE the one committing a sin.

Don't use your religion to justify your bigotry and your hate. Your God, no matter who it may be, simply doesn't understand the concept.

Do you feel hated or abandoned by God because you are gay?

Are you tired of hearing that AIDS is sent by God to destroy LGBTQ+ people?
-- God loves us - and sent Jesus. Jesus came to earth to heal us, not condemn us. - John 3:16 and Matthew 8:3,7

Have you been banned by your church or kicked out for being LGBTQ+?
-- Some churches are misguided and don't teach God's true message of love. - Matthew 15:6-9, Matthew 22:39

Did God really destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of homosexuality?
-- God destroyed the cities because the people were corrupt, rude, and inhospitable, not for being gay. - Ezekiel 16:49

Do you feel unlovable? Are you afraid that God will reject you?
-- Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I set you apart. -- Jeremiah 1:5
